Openreach Chooses Nokia to Build Open-access Fiber Network to Connect Millions to Faster Broadband
.For those that haven’t seen this, this is a fascinating article covering the Nokia announcement.
It explains the direction of travel as BTG & OR creates the Single Fibre Network in the UK over the next decade – so what does it means for the end customers and the operational teams supporting them.
It will fundamentally change how the operational delivery models and assurance processes’s for itself, its partners and the associated service providers deliver services and as well as driving huge efficiencies, it will also allow a new range of flexible propositions, new CPE management and service handover and self service options. It will create more flexible customer solutions as the services migrate to the new infrastructure for both the consumer and business services.
As the network consolidates around the circa 1,000 Exchanges/OHP’s over the next 5-10 years, EAD2 will allow SI’s, MSP’s and CP’s to deliver a broader choice of CPE and the operational changes above – EAD2 starts trialling later this year with the service launched hopefully in 2026.
Lots to consider as part of sales proposition, operational & organisational planning both for BAU and the migrations to the new platforms in the short and medium term as the platform gets delivered – exciting times ahead – let’s hope it gets delivered to plan.
